The countdown to the New Year is upon us. Have you reflected on the last year and thought about your resolutions for 2013?
Goals are made and sometimes, accomplished. For me, I like to make very small changes at a time, in an effort to keep is sustainable, rather than trying to drastically change the world over-night.
I know that the start of the New Year is a time for healthier eating for many people. We all know that healthy eating is a great goal, but it requires many other changes than just eating more produce. It requires planning meals ahead of time, buying healthier options to bring into your home, and making time to prepare and eat the foods that will make you feel your best.
So when I heard about Better Oats, healthy and quick old-fashioned oats, I was definitely intrigued. Most mornings, I start my day with a bowl of old fashioned oatmeal, made on the stove-top. This is one of the only breakfasts that actually fills me up and I know it’s good for my health. But, I don’t always love the extra time it takes to prepare the oatmeal before I’m trying to get out the door in the morning.
Better Oats are made from 100% whole grain oats; the oats are cut thick to preserve their natural texture and then flax seed is added. The packets actually have built-in measuring cups so you know exactly how much water to add whether your at home, work or on the road! This definitely adds an entire convenience factor for trying to eat healthy while traveling!

Better Oats comes in 23 flavors including Dark Chocolate, Chai Spiced, Cinnamon Roll and Maple & Brown Sugar. I was sent the following flavors to try: Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, Blueberry Muffin, Apples and Cinnamon, Pomegranate and Bare. Each of these flavors has flax, and the RAW Pure & Simple brand is 100% organic and includes five whole grains, including quinoa, barley and wheat. You can also use these to bake cookies and other sweets with!

I first tried the Organice RAW Pure & Simple Bare Oats. To make my perfect breakfast bowl of oats, my recipe is: cook Better Oats according to package directions, add a spoonful of almond butter, a sliced banana and a dash of cinnamon. I can really see myself enjoying a bowl of these at work for breakfast or a snack!
