I love weekend mornings. I absolutely love when there’s no where to be and nothing to do, but relax. I usually wake-up a couple hours before my husband on the weekends. Although I would love to sleep-in and know what it feels like to wake-up after the sun, more than anything I look forward to that peaceful and serene time before the rest of the world awakens.
The first thing I do is make myself a cup of coffee. Then, I’ll usually catch-up on a few emails and read a few blogs. After that, it’s time for breakfast. I know many people associate weekends with big breakfasts and hearty brunch (which I often do as well), but on most Saturday mornings, what I really crave is a just big bowl of granola. Actually, if I’m really being honest, I really just crave the clusters.
Throughout the week, I usually start my day with a big bowl of oatmeal. It’s a filling breakfast that keeps me warm while the air is crisp. However, my one of my absolute favorite breakfast foods is granola. I can never get enough of it and weekends always feel like the perfect time to enjoy a bowl.
So I was pretty thrilled with KIND Healthy Grains contacted me and offered to send a variety of their Healthy Grains along with offering a GIVEAWAY to THREE winners! I was sent the following flavors: Vanilla Blueberry, Maple Walnut, Cinnamon Oat, Peanut Butter Whole Grain, Dark Chocolate & Cranberry, and Honey & Oat Clusters.
I actually appreciate that it’s called Healthy Grains rather than granola, as it is a different KIND of granola. I think the biggest difference is these have different tastes and textures than a traditional granola, and are made from a unique blend of 100% whole grains such as amaranth, quinoa, oats, millet and buckwheat. Each of the six varieties is gluten-free and contains less sugar, fat, and calories than typical granolas.
I’ve tried several of the flavors, and I can definitely say that so far my favorite flavor is Peanut Butter Whole Grain! This has a strong peanut butter flavor and even has peanuts throughout the mixture. It is slightly sweet, crunchy and makes for a perfect breakfast topped with some fruit!
I have also been enjoying the Dark Chocolate & Cranberry, although I do actually wish there were more pieces of dark chocolate throughout the bag (but maybe that’s just my sweet tooth talking). This makes for a great breakfast or after-dinner snack! I have definitely been impressed with the variety of flavors and all the healthy ingredients used to make them!
