Last week, we hit the open road and took the drive to Montreal, Quebec!
Aside from a day-trip to Vancouver years ago, this was my only time in Canadian terrain; I was excited!
We packed our lunches and some snacks so that we wouldn’t need to stop along the way. Here are my passenger seat eats: pb&j, pear, carrots, mixed nuts and “Popcorners” (picked-up from a gas station along the way).
Upon arriving, we checked into our hotel, which was located on the bustling St. Denis Street. We were within walking distance of TONS of shops, restaurants and parks; it was the PERFECT place to stay!
Our room even had a small kitchenette and this fun table and terrace!
After dropping-off our bags we spent the rest of the day wandering around the city. The homes here all looked so charming!
The following morning, we walked down the street to this AMAZING brunch spot! The prices were very reasonable and the food was incredibly fresh and delicious (and the portions were HUGE)! I had this meal that came with 2 crepes with bananas and strawberries, 2 eggs, potatoes and fruit!
Hubby had this asparagus omelette, and both our orders came with toast!
It was the PERFECT fuel for our next destination: a walk to Mount Royal Park and hike to the top!
The hike was absolutely gorgeous!…
…and the view from the top was even better!…
After our hike, we initially had plans to get lunch at Schwartz’s; a place highly recommended by a reader (thank you!)! We walked past out of curiosity and saw a long line waiting outside; it looks GOOD! However, we were still STUFFED from our breakfast and decided to keep walking!
Next, we walked to the Botanical Gardens (this was about a 5 mile walk from Mount Royal Park)! We had already been on our feet for hours so we decided to stop and rest for a moment in this park along the way!
These tulips greeted us at the entrance!
The Botanical Gardens were so much bigger and impressive than I was expecting! There were many themed gardens and more flowers and plants than I could ever imagine! My favorite spot was the Chinese Garden; it was such a serene place with breathtaking views everywhere you went. It made me want to bring a book and just sit and read here for hours…
The following day, after a bit more exploring, we got back in the car and headed to Burlington, Vermont where we stayed with friends!
If you’ve never been to Burlington, I highly recommend visiting! This is the view on the walk from our friend’s house to the downtown area; not a bad place to be!
I always love a good road trip and this was the perfect one!
