I feel very fortunate. I grew-up in a household where canned soup was never purchased, and meat and cheese were always fresh from the deli.
Sure, Saturdays we were allowed to splurge with hot pockets, chicken nuggets and Pasta Roni (why did I love that fake cheesy sauce so much???), but for the most part, our meals were fresh and homemade.
I have kept that mentality into my adult life and place a strong emphasis on making sure we are eating real, whole foods.
But I also work full-time and have a spouse with an equally busy schedule and know that it’s just not always possible to make dinner from scratch every single night.
So when I received coupons from PJ’s Organics and Nate’s Meatless Meatballs I was both excited and skeptical. Could a frozen meal actually be something I could eat and still feel good about?
Nate’s Meatless Meatballs come in three flavors: Zesty Italian, Classic and Savory Mushroom. I chose Zesty Italian and loved that the cooking directions were so easy- just heat in the oven, or as I did, with the sauce as it cooks! In a short amount of time, dinner was ready we ate our first “meatless meatballs!” I feel like these would be a great product to buy for the host who is clueless about what to make for a vegetarian or vegan guest but wants to have an option available; it’s a no-fuss meal and a great alternative to your typical “spaghetti and meatballs” dinner!
The other coupons I received were for PJ’s Organics. Now, I may not be the biggest sandwich fan, but roll it up and call it a burrito and I usually can’t get enough! PJ’s Organics offers hand-rolled burritos in 6 flavors, using only organic ingredients sourced locally wherever possible. They actually make their own tortillas, and all burritos are USDA Organic and free of pesticides and preservatives! I do wish they had a vegetarian option available but love that they are providing healthier alternatives to other meals found while walking through the frozen section!
I chose to try the Breakfast Burrito that’s made with Organic Turkey Sausage, Eggs and Cheese. The tortilla was definitely my favorite part and I felt like I could really taste how fresh it was, even after being frozen first! You can find these products at Whole Foods, Shaws or check here for more locations.
