Share Your Goodness: Win Starbucks Gift Card!

by simplylife on January 1, 2012

Happy New Year!  I hope 2012 is off to a great start for you!  I’m so excited to be sharing with you my new Simply Life series: Share Your Goodness.

Last year, I had (nearly) a monthly Reader’s Challenge!  Thank YOU to everyone who participated by giving me fabulous ideas and reading through all my attempts!  From cooking with shellfish and chestnuts for the first time to finding the perfect meal for 1 – it has been nothing but a fun learning experience and many of those recipes became my 2011 favorites!

This year, I’m going to take a new (hopefully monthly) twist on things.  I’m going to be challenging YOU!  Every month I will be hosting a “Share Your Goodness” giveaway where I will offer a small prize for all the goodness you share!  :)

I constantly am in awe of the other bloggers I read about.  Some are raising money for complete strangers, others are spending their weekends volunteering and others are packing-up their homemade cookies and favorite products to send to friend.  So why not encourage that even more?!?!

While I’d love to giveaway something even bigger, the whole point of this is how much the little things can truly make a difference.  So while that extra seasonal drink may not be saving the world, I’d like to think it’s a small token of appreciation for showing others you care.

Your first challenge?…Do Something Kind for Someone Else.

Yup, it’s that easy.  And the best part?  You can enter as many times as you wish with each new thing you do between now (yes, now- not all the good deeds you’ve done in your whole life :)) and Jan 6!  It can be something big or small, time-consuming or quick.   This will be open for 5 days so you have plenty of time to squeeze that good deed in before it’s closed!

Leave a comment for each piece of goodness you share with others!  The winner will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card and will be picked using random.org (must have a US address).

~Happy Sharing!

What a FABULOUS idea!!! Ok, well tomorrow I plan on dropping off a canister of cocoa roasted almonds to the guy who answers our phones at work. He says he hates all things healthy but he tasted Emeralds almonds the other day and LOVED them, so I’m going to give him some :)

Actually, this week I was the recipient of two kind acts and while it’s so easy to offer service and do good things for others, it’s very difficult sometimes to be on the receiving end of that same kindness. My son cut his hand to the bone with the new knife he got for Christmas. My husband’s car died last week, so he had mine and was 30 minutes away at work. I called a girlfriend in desperation and immediately she and her daughter were at my home to drive us to the Urgent Care. As I was thanking her, she was thanking me for giving her the chance to help. She’s a wonderful woman whom I am blessed to call friend. My neighbor across the street came running over and took my younger son to her home and fed him dinner with her own family. It was such a blessing to me to know I didn’t have to worry about him and could focus on my other son. 7 stitches later, he’s much better!
