It’s bad.

No, just me?

Eh hem.  Moving on.

Are you ready for the bad news?  Sit down. Brace yourself.

The gym I go to no longer receives The Food Network.

I know!  How am I ever going to make it past 20 minutes on the treadmill?   How am I going to know what to make after I finish my sweaty workout?  What am I spending my money on?

It’s true.  We don’t have TV and only use the gym during the winter months, during which time approximately 99% of my motivation for going to the gym is to watch Aarti Party and Giada.

Today I had to watch Friends.  While I loved this show in high school, it was a bit painful seeing Chandler back with Janice and watching Rachel wearing puffy sleeves.  Worst of all, I came home without a new recipe inspiration.

Somehow I’ll survive.  But first you can thank Claire Robinson for this recipe.

Oh bummer – I used to always watch going shows at the gym too! (Now I use an elliptical at home w/ just music and survive. Sort of). These chickpeas would make a perfect snack!

  • Simplyfood

    Chickpeas look tasty.

  • Anonymous

Haha! I always watch food network at the gym. Those chickpeas look yummmmy

  • Cellabella

Their Blue-tini recipe sounds fun and delicious! I also like that you can use it in guacamole and pancakes :)

I am forwarding this to my mom right now. She adores chick peas and eats them as her main dish for dinner!

    • http://www.simplylifeblog.com/ Simply Life

ha, that’s cute – well then she will LOVE these!

  • http://joanne-eatswellwithothers.com/ Joanne

That is EXACTLY how I would feel if my gym stopped getting bravo. I’m honestly not sure what I would do…

  • http://gowiththedough.wordpress.com/ Hillary

My old gym eliminated Bravo, Food Network, and MTV on the same day. It was a travesty!

  • Mom

Oh, that really stinks BAD!!! Did you ask about why or if it’s permanent? Please do. You can’t imagine how one voice can change things! I feel good every time I’m working out and they put the new shades down so I don’t get more sweaty from the sun beating on me for a half hour than from my speed on the treadmill!!! It took four months, but they listened. It also helps if a few people feel the same and voice it. I hope you’re surprised one day and find it back on!!!

I used to watch Paula Deen at the gym. It was kind of counter productive because it only made me crave fried, buttery, fatty foods!

  • http://goodeatsgirl.com/ Autumn@GoodEatsGirl

You can use emergen-c in pancakes?!? Awesome!

And I”m so sad about your gyms lack of Food Network! Not cool!

  • https://raceready.wordpress.com/ Kristabel@RaceReady

I can’t stand anything spicy, but these do look very tasty!

    • http://www.simplylifeblog.com/ Simply Life

They’re really good and if you use a mild paprika, rather than a spicy one, they have more flavor rather than spice!

  • http://www.myplaceintherace.com/ Shannon ~ My Place In The Race

Mmmm…baked chick peas. I love Emergen-C!!! I use it as a post race drink (instead of sport drinks) since is doesn’t have tons of sugar but still has all the electrolytes!

    • http://www.simplylifeblog.com/ Simply Life

Oh I never thought about that but what a great idea!

  • Heather

I am excited to try the guacamole!

What a creative idea with these chickpeas! They sound awesome. As you know, I subscribe to your blog and follow you on twitter. Your giveaways are always so fun! :)

  • http://www.tastes-good-to-me.com/ kale @ tastes good to me!

I would switch gyms in a heartbeat! You know…if, like, I went to a gym.

  • http://bite-sized-thoughts.blogspot.com/ Kari

I’m guessing these chickpeas might help with surviving :) But that is incredibly frustrating – we don’t have the Food Network here but I’m certainly a sucker for routines, and if a key part of my gym routine were to disappear, I’d be quite unhappy!

  • Gina (Candid RD)

Ok I have a CONFESSION! I used to laugh at all the women in the gym who watched the Food Network as they were working out. I just didn’t understand it! In fact, it angered me because then I was forced to watch it, and it always made me hungry! Now I understand it more, because I actually cook and appreciate new recipes :) So, I feel your pain about losing the Food Network, and I LOVE Aarti Party!

    • http://www.simplylifeblog.com/ Simply Life

Ha! That is too funny! I always used to wonder if it looked strange to be drooling over food while exercising- but I got SO many new recipe ideas that way and I can’t think of a better motivation to workout for those few extra minutes when you just need to see the last dish :)

  • Heather

I can’t handle anything spicy – but I love roasted chickpeas – I have made them a few times myself.

I have an Emergen-C every day in the winter – I am not getting sick! I never thought to add it to the smoothie like in the berry banana smoothie – I drink it with just water.

I already follow you on twitter and subscribe to your blog.
